My current (2015) 27" imac has Catalina 10.15.7. I'm thinking of purchasing the new imac M3. A major publisher that I do freelance for requires the use of InDesign 2021. Will that version of InDesign work with Sonoma?

Hi Catherine:
Not yet. InDesign 2023 and 2024 are not yet supported on Sonoma, nor are they supported on M3s. Adobe just added support for the M2s about a month ago. These are both short-term goals and you can monitor the progress by keeping an eye on this page:
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/system-requirements.html
Another thing you want to be aware of is that Adobe only allows you to download the current and previous version of their applications through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. That means that you can download and install 2024 or 2023 but you will not have access to 2022 or 2021.
Finally, 2021 was not designed for Sonoma and won't get more updates, so so even if you can obtain an installer, it wouldn't be expected to run as reliably as it does on your current iMac. That said, I haven't seen anybody mention that particular combination here.

Hi Barb, Thanks tons for saving me from buying a new M3 as it would be useless for my purposes!
Should I absolutely need to update my 2015 27" imac, I'll go for a refurbished M1.
