InDesign 2021 start up hang, constant beach ball.

My Indesign 2021 would not start up, constant hang for no reason, it was all ok last week but this week nothing!

After going through the troubleshooting lists, downgrades, upgrades (latest version of InDesign and Mac Big Sur), even using the Adobe cleaner app, nothing worked.

Before doing a complete wipe and clean install of my Mac Pro, I decided to try something that was at the back of my mind.

I don't recall where I know this from so I can't give due credit for the result.

Start up in safe mode and launch InDesign... it worked, so it must be a third party thing that's causing the problem.

Wrong! It appeared to be InDesign itself, and this was the fix ...

Go to your InDesign preferences/general and un-check the box that says 'Show Home Screen When No Documents Are Open'. Quit InDesign, reboot as normal, launch Indesign, problem solved!

This was the cause of all my frustration, such a simple and time saving solution which worked for me.

May I suggest you try this first before going through all the other time consuming options.

I have the same is Indesign CC 2021 crashed,  now will not start up, tries to recover jobs that were not even open. All files that I have created over the past 3 months will not open. I uninstalled, reinstalled still no luck!

Tried opening on 2020 version will not convert back either.

 Any ideas?:(
