InDesign 2022 (17.0) opens files on NAS as Read-Only

Just upgraded to InDesign 2022 and it opens files on our Synology NAS (on local network) as Read-Only. This forces us to save files locally then move them everytime we make changes.

Nothing else changed except InDesign 'upgrade' to 2022.

Mac OS 11.6.1

InDesign 17.0

We got the problem fixed by:

1. Updating to Synology's latest NAS software/firmware

2. Updating the Mac OS to Monterey

3. Updating to latest InDesign

While this is definitely not the correct behavior, it is forcing you to improve your work habits. Working across a network has a high probability for file loss.

The down side is that you need to be very strict about controlling who is workiing on a file so you don't have multiple users editing at the same time.

Sorry I have no real suggestions for a solution to your problem.

Just updated to InDesign 17.0.1

Still cannot save files on NAS.  Files open in InDesign as Read-Only. Sigh.  ðŸ˜ž

Thanks for giving feedback on what solved your issue. It is often many parts involved in the problem, sometimes related to hardware/firmware sometimes OS… all which makes trouble shootingthis kind of problems so much more dificult.

Just curious--did you test the problem one fix at a time, or did you just update everything at once? In other words, would one of the fixes been enough to solve the problem? (The reason I'm asking is in case someone else has the problem and can't upgrade the Mac OS due to hardware or can't update ID due to workflow.)
