InDesign 2022 crashing when opening

New Here ,
Jan 16, 2022 Jan 16, 2022

Hi All,

I am having trouble with my InDesign 2022. When I open the application it begins it's start up process but fails once it gets to 'starting service registry'.

I have logged in and out of my adobe cloud, deleted fonts that couldn't be validated in Fontbook, and sent reports.

I have the below report but I am unsure how to read it and find the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

THANK YOU

Hello

I replaced your lengthy text report with a link instead.

Hard to know what's going on

I've a few pre-saved fixes that may or may not work for you

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.
Further info and instructions here if needed:

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

I have the same problem. Since 5 days already. I can’t work anymore, InDesign is the program I need everyday.

@Eugene TysonThese 2 options don’t work for me.

Do you use InDesign 17, 17.0.1 or 17.1.
There are several bug fixes. Since several days 17.1 is phased rolled out. Maybe that it will solve your problem.

I’m using version 17.1.

I installed the latest update this morning. I have also completely uninstallted Adobe CC and reinstalled it. Still not starting up...

Hi Dave,

I started having the exact same problem this morning, for no reason.

Did you find a solution in the last month?

Bests,

Hi maximedavid

Yes, after 2 weeks of trying all the forum solutions plus more I tried deactivating the latest fonts that I had added on that day. And lo and behold: InDesign started up again. I must have had at least 1 corrupt trial font. Still not sure which one. I had these installed, when it happened:

Oh thanks for the lead! I found the problem, it was because of an obscure beta trial font I opened this morning. I lost 4 hours of work but feeling so relieved.

Cheers!

Glad to hear. Adobe still has to address this issue. The weird thing is, that it only concerns InDesign. My Illustrator worked fine with those same trial fonts.

Same for me, Illustrator was dealing with it without problems. Let's hope they fix it!
