InDesign 2023 is freezing on close with Windows 11

Hi, I just got a new laptop with Windows 11 and downloaded my Adobe apps. When I try to exit out of InDesign, it completely freezes and I have to end the program with the Task Manager. Any thoughts on this?

Hi @ForwardEdge

I'm sorry you're experiencing issues with InDesign freezing on close. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Since it's a new download, I assume it would be the latest version of InDesign which is 18.5, if not please confirm the version.
  2. Clearing the cache; preferences can often resolve issues with InDesign freezing. Here's how to do it https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/troubleshooting-101-replace-or-quot-trash-quot-y...
  3. Disable third-party plugins: Third-party plugins can sometimes cause issues with InDesign. Try disabling any plugins you have installed and see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps! Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Thanks
    Rishabh

That "how-to" is from 2009, refers to Windows 7, and is marked outdated. How about a current solution for Windows 11 and the latest version of InDesign?

I posted that how-to back in 2009 as a quick way to answer what was then and is still probably the most common troubleshooting question and response. The information for Windows users (and as far as I know, Mac users as well) is still accurate.

I don't understand this reply; the post is dated August 10, 2023-- and the advice does not apply/is not accurate. Is there current information? This problem is driving me crazy.

Nothing's changed since Peter put that together years ago. That out of the way and FWIW, I've recently seen this behavior a few times since installing the 18.5 update. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.
