Indesign can't select any object or layer

Suddenly ALL of my InDesign files are like this.  Nothing is locked and nothing is on a master and thousands of my files I cannot select the object unless I hold down command.  I can't use my shortcuts.  i can right click things and get a menu.  They behave as though they are all locked but they aren't

You could try the followign

1. Another version of InDesign. Do let us know which version is giving you troubles though

2. Clear the InDesign preferences and cache https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/

3. Reinstall InDesign
