I've tried opening and saving/packaging it on several devices, it simply crashes or says there's a heavy problem. I can save it locally, but trying to open it crashes InDesign.
It works fine from the project folder, saves changes, can even write a PDF. I tried it without the images, without the Adobe Fonts in the document, it crashes.
It's an 8-page brochure and for my finals.

Hi @ella_5542,
Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry this is getting in the way of finishing your finals project. To help us move this forward, could you please confirm the exact version of InDesign and your operating system? A short screen recording of what happens when you try to package or open the locally saved file would really help us understand the failure point.
If you haven't already, please try exporting the local file to IDML, then reopen that IDML and save it as a new InDesign file before trying to package again. Let me know if that makes any difference.
If InDesign displays the Crash Reporter when it closes, please submit the report and share the email address used(via DM), so I can access the logs. Ref:

It would also be useful to test the same workflow in Safe Mode to check whether any background tools or plug-ins may be interfering:
Windows: https://adobe.ly/4rHxB2M
macOS: https://adobe.ly/4iHGpS5
If the issue persists, please share the affected file so I can test it here as well. You can upload it using Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., and, if the content is confidential, feel free to send the link via DM.
Looking forward hearing back.
Abhishek
