I'm working on a file in Indesign, but everytime I try to change the color of text with the color picker tool, the color panel freezes and eventually indesign crashes. I've already reinstalled InDesign and the Creative Cloud program. Is there someone with a solution? I never had this problem before so should I install an older version?
I'm on mac os (M1): 13.0 with indesign 18.2.1

Here is some guidance on how to methodically and thoroughly troubleshoot InDesign and/or it's document:
You might also double-click the Eyedropper tool and turn OFF all the many attributes you don't want it to sample.

Hi @Ivo294445160400 ,
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try the suggestions shared by Mike, and if it still doesn't work, please confirm if this is happening with a specific file or multiple files. If this started happening recently, please confirm if there have been any changes on your computer.
Thanks
Rishabh

I have been searching for a solution to this problem for a few weeks with no answers. I'm wondering if it's to do with Mac users and a combination of having to grant "Screen and System Recording" permissions. Even though I have Adobe applications added as allowed, my InDesign still jams up when I try to use the colour picker tool (sometimes I need to add a bit of extra solid colour bleed from an image with a solid background and this is the quickest and easiest way to do it without having to open PhotoShop and create more canvas).

First, try the standard troubleshooting steps:

If it doesn't help, then what versions of InDesign and macOS are you using? Also, how does exactly "jams up" manifest itself: crash, stall, something else?
