Hi there,
Sorry about the crashing! I know that's really frustrating. I checked the crash report, but couldn't find much on it.
Regards,
Srishti

Thanks,
- MacOS Big Sur, Indesign is 16.12.1
- Exported files are being saved onto System HD
- No system changes, only updates to adobe software
- It's quite a big book file with images and some videos, total of about 300mb
Packaging seems to work, and then using pdf from the package, just a shame can't export just the pdf.
I'll also try narrowing down as Eugene below suggested. I'm really sorry don't really want to upload the file for privacy reasons.
Thanks
Dominyka

Backup your file.
Export half the document(book) to PDF and see if that works.
Then try the other half.
Whichever fails the error is in that half.
Keep halving the document exoprt until you find the culprit page/pages
Then try deleteing the contents from that page one at a time to see what is causing the crash.

This is clever, I'll try that!

I would like to know of the suggestion shared by Eugene worked for you? You may also try exporting the document to IDML and Export PDF from this new file.

You cannot export the entire book to IDML.
But you can do the documents individually.
You can get a script that Batch Converts files in a folder - so you can select your folder and pick the IDML folder.
https://creativepro.com/files/kahrel/indesign/batch_convert.html
But likely it's just going to be 1 file - so once you narrow down a page range you can try the IDML and replace the file in the book panel.
Sometimes - it does help to start a New Book file - and re-add your files - you could try that too before spending too much time on finding an issue.
Here's info on installing scripts.
