InDesign Embedded YouTube Video Problem

New Here ,

Help!

I'm having issues with InDesign which is making want to lose the will to live and I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong (if anything).

Basically I am making a page spread which will contain 10 thumbnail images. Each of those images is a button which will then pop up an embedded YouTube video. These videos will fade in and then have a close function which fades out wheh pressed. I have created all the thumbnails and applied the animations/buttons/timing/etc  which work fine (for reference I have been following this video: Learn how to create an interactive pop-up video in Adobe InDesign)

Everything seems to work fine however when I publish the document online, I play the first video which works correctly, however when the video has closed, it fades out but for some reason it remains on the document - just invisible which menas I can't select any of the other buttons as when I click it just interacts with the embedded video - I realise this is really difficult to explain through words!

Any suggestions/ideas??

Hello @default52q82v0tbiny,

Could you share more details, like the version of the OS/InDesign installed, a link to a sample file and a small screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem, so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Anubhav

This would be best handled with a multi state object but I'd need way more details. Worth noting that that the video you linked to does not mention embedded Youtube video but embedded MP4 files.

Here's some images showing the progress of what happens (dont have access to screen recording on my work computer unfortunately). This should hopefully show what I'm trying to do. I have used embedded videos from YouTube instead of locally stored videos as I feel the file size will be too big to publish online.

Each thumbnail is a button which then loads up the embedded YouTube video (Fig. 1). The first one works fine and does exactly what I want (Fig. 2), however when I click the close button, the animations for fading the video, background and close button away work fine, however the video still remains, albeit invisible. You can see this on Fig. 3 with the cursor howevering over where the Play icon is on the embedded video. Fig. 4 shows that none of the other buttons work now due to the invisivble video covering the rest of the thumbnail - see the cursor.
