The fact that Adobe asked why publishers don't simply publish PDF's instead of making EPUBs ... in 2022. That is incredible. I mean, really. Do they not keep in touch with the book publishing industry at all?

I don't actually find that to be an unreasonable question.

The debate over the formats reminds me of nothing so much as the VHS-Betamax war, and not a little of the shorter but equally pointless HD-DVD/Blu-Ray conflict. The passionate factions here would do well not just to remember these teapot squabbles, but examine the subsequent history of each.

(The technological historian in me is sad that it's no longer useful to reach back to the 33-1/3 vs 45 rpm record battles, but I still find it amusing that these furious little furballs remain perennial...)
