InDesign file crashes when working a specific page of the file

Community Beginner ,

Hello

I have an indesign file, where one page has something wrong with it.  Whenever I work on that page my file crashes. When I delete the page, the text is flowed, and when i get to that area in text it crashes again. I saced over it, saved as an idml file, and so many other things. Any suggestions to how to fix this file? I cant start from scratch since its a 60 page document..

Thank you

Create a new file with the same document setup. Open this file and the other. Go to the old file, layout > pages > move pages

all pages from the old document to the start of the new document.

You can also try exporting the file to .idml and openthat then save as a new .indd with a new name.

If the export to IDML also did not work for you, and the crash happens at a particular section in the text then we could also investigate the possibility of a corrupt font. What if you copy this problematic text onto a new document?

Would it get solved with changing the font? Would that help with the corrupt text?

Thank you

You can try Martin Fisher's blind-open script. One place you'll find it is Blind open and IDML-export

It blind opens it and saves it as an idml.

LATEST

it can sometimes be successful to open the file without interacting with the UI when regular methods fail. It looks like you've been through .idml previously, so it may not help, but always worth a try.

Other things worth trying are open as a copy and open on a different computer.
