InDesign files won't open - Says zero bytes once downloaded

I'm trying to download InDesign files sent to me via OneDrive. On OneDrive, they have file sizes, but once I download them, they all say zero bytes and won't open. 

Please help. I've tried having them emailed to me in a Zip folder and uploaded via OneDrive.

Are you trying to open them from OneDrive? If so, make sure you have any smart sync features turned off.

Yes. OneDrive and using a MacBook. I don't see anything about smart sync on OneDrive. How would I turn that off?
