When I try to work on a larger catalog file, it keeps freezing and never comes back. I control, alt, delete. I have tried restarting several times, updates, and still no luck. It seems to work on my other files, but can't get this one to work. I need to work on changes and get this project done. Any advice would be appreicated. Thank you.

Try exporting the file as an IDML (File>Export>InDesign Markup (IDML)) and then opening that file with your version of InDesign. This process can remove some corruption from a file.
