InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat all crashing on launch (Mac, Big Sur, MacBook Air, M1 chip)

InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat CC have suddenly stopped working. (Photoshop still seems to work.) They all just stop responding every time I launch them. I deleted the preferences for all, uninstalled all and re-installed all with the latest versions and then restarted my computer. The apps work in my test user profile but not my main profile so I assume it's a conflict but I don't know where to start.

I tried using the instructions on the Adobe community page regarding Advanced troubleshooting for Launch issues but I couldn’t get Terminal to recognize my username. (Where the terminal instructions say <user>, I'm supposed to replace “user” with my user name, right?) I'm at my wits’ end. Adobe support is unavailable on the weekends (of course, because everybody knows designers don’t work on the weekend).

I would be eternally grateful for any help. In the mean time, I guess I’ll be working in my test user account.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. You mentioned that in test user account, apps are working fine. There may be an issue with your main user account. You may try repairing permissions on the main account & see if that helps. You may also try using Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and reinstall the apps once done. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
