Hi all
InDesign has been really unstable for me since the update (was a bit previously but worse now). Menu bars are really glitchy, one moment they will display, the next they won't. Constant crashing when exporting to PDF, either for print or digital. Very slow on start-up and often crashes on shutdown. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, still no joy. Anyone else experiencing the same?
Running OS 12.1
InDesign vs: 17.1

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?
Have you tried resetting the preferences back to the factory defaults?
1) Close InDesign
2) Double click on Adobe InDesign's icon to launch it
3) QUICKLY hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift. (for Windows) or CTL+OPT+CMD+Shift (for Mac OS X)
4) When a dialogue appears, asking you “Delete InDesign Preference Files?” Click Yes.
If you don't see the question repeat the procedure again.

Hi Derek
Thanks for your response. I did select to delete my preferences when I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign and they were'nt there when I reopned it, so I feel that was effective. Would you still suggest going throguh the steps supplied above?
Many thanks

You need to upgrade your RAM to last least 16GB.

301gb capacity.
Can I ask where does Adobe tell us, before the auto upgrade of apps, that we need a jump in RAM?

It's easy to upgrade the RAM on an iMac.

Hi I upgraded to 40gb and all programs but InDesign are much improved. However InDesign is still being glitchy. Menus hanging open, or just not opening at all. Crashes (three today alone) and generally being slow while using. Is there another issue I could be missing?
Many thanks
