Indesign not showing links info to images

New Here ,
Feb 14, 2025 Feb 14, 2025

Hello,

My documents are missing link information for embedded images, as shown in screenshot. The images are stored in a folder on my computer and haven’t been copied from elsewhere. This issue never occurred before does anyone know how to fix it?

Thank you,

Jacob

Linked or Embedded?

If really Embedded - you should rather not do this.

Probably, because of Embedding instead of linking - your file got corrupted - try IDMLing - export as IDML, open, save with a new name - do not overwrite your original file.

Or reset preferences and caches:

Happy to help.

How big is your INDD file?

Can you - even just for fun - UNembed them - make them linked again, then save your document with a NEW NAME? What's the size of your new INDD file?

And if you prefer to keep them embedded - please do SAVE AS with a NEW NAME at least at the end of the day - you'll greatly reduce the risk of future corruptions.

Of course, the next day, you will have to work on this new copy - or rename it, but then keep a copy of it somewhere safe anyway.

Another bonus - you'll have a backup copy.
