I'm currently working on creating a magazine in InDesign, and I've encountered an issue with a specific page that I imported from Illustrator. This page is filled with pictures placed within frames. When I export this to PDF it all seems fine, though there seems to be a delay in loading these pictures using Preview. Recently, we printed the magazine using an online printing service, but unfortunately, the page I'm referring to didn't turn out as expected, the pictures, frames, etc. dissapeard. I should note that I have no control over the specific settings of the online printing service's program or printer.
Would someone know what makes these elements dissapear and how I clould solve this in the future?
I'm working on a Mac and using InDesign and Illustrator 2023. For reference, I've attached images depicting how the page should appear (with gray boxes covering faces for privacy) and a visual representation of how it actually turned out.

Not sure what to say without inspecting actual file - but it looks like only "background" - shadows been printed...
But the question is - why, if this is a digital printing service - no one gave you "proof" for signing or why THEY have not checked first printed copy with what is on the screen???
If everything is OK - displays correctly - in the PDF you've sent to the printer - it's 100% their fault...
You could probably try few things - but then all those steps would have to be then checked by them as well - if it prints correctly.

I agree with @Robert at ID-Tasker the pdf should represent what you will get on paper.
Just to make sure:
