InDesign problem with dual monitors on latest update

Just updated today and now when i drag my InDesign files (or brand new file) from the laptop screen to my cinema display, the InDesign file goes crazy - where i can't even move text or anything. It almost looks like everything is in thumbnails. InDesign was fine yesterday before the update.  Photoshop/Illustrator are fine.  I'm on Mac. 10.15.7 Catalina.  Do i need to go to Big Sur?
