Does this happen wiith all files? Just one? New files, old files?

Does it happen if you log onto the computer using a new user account?

Looks like there is something wrong in the contents of what you are trying to paste.

Try to paste in smaller chunks - if it's a text then try 1st half then 2nd half - then 1st/2nd half of a half that crashed before and so on until you find the culprit.

If it's a graphic - try in pieces as well.

Hint: when you ask for help - next time give more information in the opening post. What OS, what version of InDesign, from which program are you trying to copy&paste, etc.
