Hello everyone.

I am trying to relink images to google drive through the desktop drive app. When I go to relink an image I get a message saying "The file could not be opened. you may not have permission or the file may be in use by another application." No one at my job can seem to figure out this issue and I have tried everything. I uninstalled Indesign, uninstalled google drive desktop, moved the images to other folders, tried to relink all images to the folder, ETC nothing works at all and I keep getting this error message.

Don't work this way at all. But I have some success with Dropbox and no issues with syncing etc.

But I do believe with google drive it's a permissions issue.

So you might need to store the images locally - then copy to Google Drive later.

It's not 100% clear what's happening though - can  you reply with some screenshots of non-sensitive materials?

I agree with Eugene, save the photos an images used for file on Desktop and replace the links.

If this works, I recommend you package your job. So all needed items are in a nice folder needed for the job.

Hi, @ThatOneSchmuck ,

as far as I understand your posting you altered image link(s) in the Google Drive Desktop App.

Then you got an error message about permissions in the Google Drive Desktop App.

Why do you think that this is an InDesign related problem?

Or did you forget something to tell?

So if InDesign is involved, please start at the beginning:

1) What OS and version?

2) What InDesign version?

3) Please describe step-by-step what are you doing in the Google Drive Desktop App and what in InDesign.

Regards

Stephan
