Indesign save as function unavailable.

Community Beginner ,
Oct 17, 2022 Oct 17, 2022

I am using Indesign ver 17.4 and I always have problem saving it.

Whenever I try to update my older file with the save as function, Indesign turns off.

If I save, it still works, but I want to leave the older version as is.

Is there any way I can solve this? it's been a few months and I even tried to re-install the whole creative cloud but nothing is solved.

Thank you in advance 🥲

Further to @Barb Binder excellent advice

I would also suggest the following

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

------------

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

When InDesign begins to display unexpected behavior, it's time to rebuild the cache/preferences.
