Hello
Is it possible to arrange automatically images from an folder in InDesign?
The images should be placed over the whole document size with a specific spacing between.
It would be great if the position of the images would be random. It should be arranged automatically, so that it will fit.
It would be a kind of the masonry jquery plugin (http://masonry.desandro.com/)
See attached image.
Thank you so much.
Best!

Your sample shows images with all similar sizes -- e.g., 1x1, 2x1, 1x2, and 2x2. Are your input folder images already sized that way, or should this script resize (and possibly crop) the images?
For an indication of how difficult this is, google "rectangle packing". It's quite a famous problem, with no straightforward solution.

Hi
No, the images are not sized.
Position should be random.
Concerning the size, it would be great if the size of the images depends on the number of images on one size, so that the size will be as full as possible.
The sizing between the images should be fix, e.g. 5mm.
Is this possible?
I could image to place the images manually. I take e.g. 12 images by hand and place it by hand, but the position and size will be done automatically.
Thanks.
Best!

With random sized images? Google "rectangle packing" for an indication of how hard this is.
