Indesign showing an Error message

Community Beginner ,
Apr 16, 2025 Apr 16, 2025

For some days I get this Error message regular (several times per day). I could not really reproduce it.

Very annoying.

MacOS, InDesign, all newest versions.

Hi @claus-in-iceland,

Just to better understand what might be going on, could you confirm the exact version of InDesign and macOS you’re using? Also, are you using any third-party font management tools like Typeface? If so, try disabling them temporarily and see if the issue persists.

It might be worth trying to launch your Mac in Safe Mode and then run InDesign just to check if the problem still occurs. Reference: https://adobe.ly/3GnEaEo

Let me know what you observe after testing in Safe Mode.

Hello,

MacOS 15.4. InDesign 21.0 (?). And yes, I use Typeface (3.15.3).

I installed InDesign 20.1 again because I have to work on a project.

I might test again the newest version of InDesign 21.0 the next days. Then without Typeface. Greetings.

Hi @claus-in-iceland,

Thanks for the update! Totally understand the need to roll back when you’re in the middle of a project, that’s a smart move. Once you get a chance to test InDesign 20.2 again without Typeface running, do let me know how it goes.

Also, I’d suggest going through a similar thread here to see if anything there aligns with what you're experiencing.

Looking forward to hearing your observations.

Yes, it is also my observation: InDesign 20.2. and Typefce (also their new verion 4) are not compatible. Without Typeface -> no crash. The crash happened mostly after opening n a second document in InDesign.

It is also the experience of many other users.

I think now it is the job of the InDesign team and the developer of Typeface to do the research and publish a bugfix for ID 20.2 and/or Typeface.
