Indesign - transparency

Hi, Im trying to create a nutritional label to go on the front of a package design.  How do I create a transparent background in indesign, do the text blocks have to be clipped - im new to this!

Based on the image attached it looks like you can create a series of text frames, round the corners and add a color fill to the frames. Text frames are transparent by default, but I suspect you don't really mean that and that you want to knock out the background and leave white in those frames. To do that set the fill color to Paper.
