I've never seen this before, but InDesign 16.2.1 is treating all vector files as linked text.

So, if I place a vector file in .ai, .eps, or .pdf format it imports it as text.

And any file I open treats placed vector files in this way.

What can I do to fix this!?

Hi FA222,

what's your operating system?

If Mac OS, is your machine one of the new ones with the M1-chip?

This behavior is not normal.

Maybe it helps to trash InDesign cache and preferences:

Before you do this backup the Version 16.0 folders.

Or deinstall and reinstall InDesign.

Looks like someone just changed the file extension to .ai

It's probably a text file with a  .txt or .rtf or .doc extension.

Can you open it in Illustrator?
