I have an InDesign document made with the most recent (2024) version of InDesign. I have it saved and when I try to reopen it, it doesn't work because a previous (2023 or 2022) version of InDesign is trying to open the document. I then of course receive the error message that I can't open the document and need to update InDesign or convert the document. If I convert the document, it converts to an older version. And if I select the Update indesign option, it opens an unresponsive creative cloud window. I instead have to open the Creative Cloud app, and specifically click on "Indesign 2024" or "19.2" or whatever and open the document from my recents.
Why is this? how can I fix the issue? I want to just open the document from my desktop, using the correct (most recent) version of InDesign (which I used to create the document in the first place)

If you have more than one version of InDesign installed you're going to have to use the File > Open command.
