InDesign will not open once closed and has to be reinstalled every-time to get it working again.

Hi,

Once I've quit InDesign it fails to reopen, it appears to start to load but then as quick as a flash stops.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue or is experiencing it themselves?

Exact same problem here with v.18.5, as of yesterday. Only current solution is you uninstall and reinstall each morning...

Thanks. Holding doing the "Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys until you see a warning message asking for confirmation" works but only if I select Yes to delete InDesign Preference files. If I close and try to reopen it won't work again, until I do the above and delete the InDesign Preference files each time.

I don't know what version of InDesign 2023 is unaffected. If InDesign 2022 is good enough for you: Install InDesign v17.4. That is the only version of InDesign 2022 that will work. Nothing newer, nothing older.

You can try to start up InDesign while holding Shift-Control-Option-command (Startup Alert - Delete InDesign Preference files): Yes, this works, but then when you close the app and re open, it's the same issue, crashing on launch. Also, all your preferences are lost each time.

But I just noticed that my Mac OS was on Ventura 13.2, whereas 13.5 is available, I just wasn't getting an alert or automatic updates. I had to go to System Settings / General / Software Update and do it manually.

I'm hoping this resolves the issue.

I was experiencing the same thing after updating to ID 18.5 (on Mac OS Ventura)

I was using the reset preference files on launch to get around it, but this wasn't ideal.

What I have done now and seems to work is to Uninstall inDesign completely and then delete the inDesign folders from the following locations:
Library / Caches / Adobe InDesign

Library / Preferences /Adobe InDesign

After deleteing both folders, reinstall InDesign and it should boot up properly (it did for me at least).

Actually - scratch that. It worked fine for about 24 hours, but the same problem is happening again.

Hi, I wasn't actually able to locate any files in the Library but as you say, the problem still exist. This is clearly an issue from Adobe's end as I am working on two different Mac's of different setups and the problem exist on both of them. I'm extremely frustrated by having to uninstall and reinstall every morning! It would be easier to speak with the Wizzard of Oz than to communicate with someone at Adobe!

Facing the same problem everyday. Growing tired of installing InDesign everyday multiple time or never shutting it off.
I have tried downloading every version down to 17.0. My Mac has Ventura installed and is an M2 Max. Every other Adobe software works smoothly its just damned InDesign.

Adobe a response will be appreciated!

you're running macOS 13.0. update to the latest version - 13.6 - it solved the issue for many users. then you can use the latest InDesign version, too.

Install InDesign v17.4. That is the only version of InDesign 2022 that will work. Nothing newer, nothing older.

For now, the solution for me is to install and use "InDesign Beta" it doesn't have the problem of opening up. Hope it can help.
