Hello,
my collegue has a problem with Indesing. She is redesingning a marketing book and she is linking new photos (PSD format) into this document. She finds the PSD on out shared drive and drags&drops it into Indesing. When she does that it takes aproximately 15 seconds for Indesing to change the photo. In the meantime a blue circle is rotating in Indesing.
If I just copy the same file (around 100Mb) to her desktop it takes aproximately 3 seconds. If I drag&drop it to Indesing from desktop it takes less than a second.
Any idea why does it take so long to drag&drop directly?

Sounds like a network issue to me.

I agree with Bob. You should consult with your IT person.

I am the IT person 🙂 As I stated - copying the file to computer is 5 times faster than when I drag&drop it directly to Indesign. I can't see that as a network problem, but might be mistaking...

What platform / OS / version / InDesign version?
In recent versions of InDesign, network speed become an issue...
InDesign needs to prepare preview for internal use - so needs to analyse contents of the PSD file - reading file over the network - in chunks - takes more time than doing it from a local drive...

Hi @Licence23487632qj6x , Just to clarify, does the delay happen when using the Place command as well or is it just drag and drop?
