Hi,
When in a working file I need to enter a PDF into the document and it is causing Indesign to crash. Whenver I open the recovered file it is still happening no matter what PDF I upload. Any help with this issue?
Try holding Shift as you click the place button in the place dialogue or turn on Show Import Options. I find that I have problems when the crop options default to an option that is not valid with the current file. For example if hte last time you imported a PDF you cropped it to bleed but the current file has no bleed.

Hi @Cierra243798096kvf ,
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please ensure you have updated InDesign to the latest version which is 17.3. If it's already up to date, please share a few more details like:
1. Is this happening while placing PDF on a specific file or multiple files?
2. Is this happening while placing a specific PDF or multiple PDF's?
3. Have you tried resetting the preferences? If not, please try doing that. Follow the instructions on the help article https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html
**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
Regards
Rishabh

Please provide the exact version of InDesign and operating system that you are using. Also, please describe the process with which you are importing the pdf. Also please indicate the size and content of the pdfs that are being imported.

Does this happen only with this document or also with a newly created one? And still with every pdf import or only with this particular one?
Try to save your document as .idml and try to import this pdf again.

Hi, this happens with multiple IND files and with different PDFs, I tried different files for IND and PDF and still ran into the crashing issue.

Can you open pdf in photoshop? If so open and re-save as jpeg or tiff.

I disagree with opening the PDF in Photoshop and resaving as jpeg or tiff.
That's not a good workflow and doesn't resolve the issue.

I open pdfs in photoshop all the time and I have no issues, saving them in a different format.

Except any Vector information or live text is completely rasterised.
I'm not sure I'm following your train of thought on this process.
If the PDF has vector elements then you're rasterising them.
