Is Noto Sans really an Apple problem, or....

I've seen many posts about the horrid list of Noto Sans clogging up the font selection list.

I really hope an Adobe expert will respond to this post from an Apple forum and explain whether this is legit or not.

"Apple has made an API available to developers since El Capitan to hide fonts that are not meant for your region/language. Most apps use them, such as the Affinity suite.

For whatever reason (and they won't say why), Adobe has refused to implement it. My guess is they don't want to cut off access to fonts an advertising agency or print shop may need to produce a project. But they could still do something as adding a simple check box to turn these non-language related fonts on or off as the user needs them."

If this is true that Apple has made an API available, why is Adobe not using it. We pay a lot of money to use Adobe products and it's absolutely maddening to have to scroll through the list of 200 Noto Sans fonts to find what I need.

Yes, I know someone has provided a workaround but don't we deserve and answer as to why Adobe won't use the API Apple provides? Why get locked in a battle at the expense of your customers?

The Community Forums are, for the most part, user-to-user forums. The InDesign developers have not (yet) included feature requests and bug reports here, but instead use a separate site. You need to post to https://indesign.uservoice.com/ if you want the developers to see and track your request.

What I do is make favorites of all my typefaces except for the No Tofu (Noto) fonts from Apple, then filter to Favorites.

Well, with all fairness, they don't need any API from Apple for this. Adobe's font menu can already filter fonts by name. They can just give users a preference to always filter out certain fonts.
