Hello, I recently made changes to text on a page which caused text to flow to the adjacent page. The problem came when I sent the new pdf to the printer of only the page that I made the initial changes to; and did not send a pdf of the page that held the overflow text, so now the book is printed with this mistake.
I realize that I should have caught this mistake, but neither I nor the proof reader caught it. So my question is: Does Indesign have a feature that I can turn on that will alert me when text has flowed over to the adjacent page?
No it does not.
However, you're not alone. Happened to me years ago. Only one page needed a change and pushed the text on. We only needed to replate that one section.
However, it meant text was missing as it pushed on.
It happened. And hasn't happened again.

Thank you. It's somewhat comforting knowing I'm not alone, even though this was a costly mistake. 😐

If you do not use auto flow and use fixed auto flow, shift/opt on Mac or shift/alt on pc, you will have red box with plus sign in it at the end of your copy. This way you have a way to catch copy missing and preflight will catch it too.

Thank you for your response. Unfortuneatley I was using Text Threads and my text bounding box was large enough on the adjacent page that I did not receive an "overflow" text alert. Next time I'll be sure to keep my text boxes snug to the copy in hopes this will prevent a similair mistake in the future. Also, I've just learned about "smart text overflow" - I'm gong to turn that on in preference to see if that helps in the future.

That will do the opposite - that will add pages if the text overflows.
I always have it turned off.
