This issue just popped up today with a logo; the transparency on the file shows up as pink in typical display mode, but goes away in high-quality display mode. It looked like there was a fill at first. Have never seen this issue before. It is doing this with any transparency on placed PDF or Illustrator files.

Hi @cindic48128273,
Thanks for reporting this. Could you please confirm which version of InDesign you're placing the Illustrator file in and the version of Illustrator in which the file was created? I tried creating a sample file in Illustrator 30.0 and placed it in InDesign 21.0 on Windows 11, but couldn't reproduce the pink transparency behavior.
Is this happening with a specific Illustrator file or with multiple ones? Also, please check if the InDesign file you're placing into is an older file or a newly created one. If you haven't tried yet, create a new InDesign file and place the same AI file to see if the issue persists.
Additionally, please confirm if you have GPU Performance enabled in InDesign (under Preferences > GPU Performance).
If the issue still occurs, could you share both the affected AI and InDesign files for testing? If they're confidential, you can send them privately via DM on the community using a cloud link (like Google Drive or Dropbox).
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek
