I am trying to create a 100 page book in InDesign. Each page has six columns of text (or lists) that thread down the page and then onto the text box on the next page. So, for instance, there will be a list of items on the left side of the page. The column next to that will have the description. The column next to that the price, etc. The text does NOT thread to the other columns on the same page, which is what most tutorials show you how to do. (see attached)
On my A-Parent page I create a text box (column 1)
Then, on page 1 I override the parent page item (Column 1) and paste the list (from Excel) and I thread it down all 100 pages. Works fine so far.
The issue comes when I create the second text box/column on my A-Parent page. This time, when I paste the text from Excel and thread it down 100 pages it populates the column but it gets rid of all the text I had in column 1 except for the text on page 1.
I can't figue out if this is a formatting issue with the list in Excel of if I am simply not setting up my InDesign file correctly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got facing pages turned on?
Best way
On the Parent Pages for your pages - they should be side by side
then create your text frames.
Link frame from left side to the frame you want on the right side
and same for the 2nd frame on the left - link it to the right side frame you want
then when you flow the text they will only flow to those columns as they are already linked.
