After my latest update of Indesign, I am no longer able to use key commands or any of my pull-down menues. So I'm unable to move objects forward or to the back. This is happening on most all of my commands.

I don't recommend letting InDesign migrate your preferences to a new version, because this sort of thing happens. Now that you have, rebuild them:
