If you happen to be aligning your object to the margin, page edge, center of the page, etc. you can create your own keyboard shortcut for one of those options as follows:

  • Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > New Set
  • In the Product Area dropdown, select Object Editing
  • Scroll down the alphabetical list until you get to the Horizontal Margin... or Horizontal Page... options. Select your desired alignment option.
  • While your cursor is in the New Shortcut field, type your preferred shortcut (for example, Opt + 0

Not that I can find. Here are a couple other options:

  • Opt+Cmd+` — Activate last-used field in panel  (if you are just using the X location field repeatedly)
  • Shift+Cmd+M — Transform: Move... (here you can enter how much you want to move your object by, not the exact X position of your object)

But could you define the object position in an object style(s) instead?

  • OK

(If you want to align multiple objects to another object, select the "Horizontal Align Left/Center/Right" options.)

THank you for the suggestions. Ultimately I am just trying to get the highlight on the x location so I can incorporate it into an applescript. Your Opt+Cmd+` suggestion will likely do it for me. Thanks!
