I've been able to change KB shortcuts in AI and PS, but not ID. I get a "file is probably locked" message.

Even though I get the error message, the KB shortcut changes do work, so I'm considering this "answered". Thank you both.

Can you show the error message? That shouldn't happen...

CC2018 (13.1x64)

Win 10 Home (all updates installed).

I've tried various names for the file, and I've deleted them and tried again from scratch.

Hmm...to make sure it continues to work:

  • In Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, does it say you are using Default or one you created?

  • And you might want to create a new Workspace that you can reset to that includes not only your panel locations but also your menu customization.

Even using a new "set" (not default) I still get the error message. However, the changes do go into affect anyway(!). I created a new workspace as you suggested. Thank you.

Hi time flies,

You can't change the Default shortcuts. Start by choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, then click New Set...

If you make a change to the Default set, this should come up:

I know that this thread is 3 years old, but I am having the problem. And I cannot change my shortcuts. I get the same error message and even resetting my preferences, creating a new shortcut set, new workspace, etc. nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Thanks, T
