I layouted a smaller publication with a few footnotes and incorrectly set the language in the extended formats to english which led to incorrect breaks in the german text. After I noticed this I wanted to change the language settings to german but that leads to a complet program crash every time i tried. How do I get it done without having to do the whole work again?

Have you tried using Find/Change?

GREP Find: .+ and set the formatting to English  language.

Change: $1 and set the formatting to German language

Hi Langerdesign,

how exactly did you change the language from English to German:

Did you select the text and changed language?

Did you change the applied paragraph styles only?

Something else?

What's your version of InDesign on what machine?

You could try to export the document to the IDML format, open the IDML file as document and save to a new name.

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
