Lock toolbox to frame

New Here ,
Sep 13, 2021 Sep 13, 2021

How do I affix the toolbox/tool bar to the base Adobe InDesign frame?  It used to but doesn't now.  If I move the frame the toolbar "floats" wherever it was.  I want it to stay affixed to the frame.

If you pick it up with the mouse and drag it around, it ought to show a blue line where it'll latch on:

Have you tried resetting your workspace?

Great answer, but what if you want it to permanently "lock" as opposed to simply docking the toolbar.  I inadvertently un-dock it all the time and it is very annoying.

Not sure how you are undocking it all the time since you have to grab it at the top bar. However, be sure to save your workspace after you arrange the panels the way you want. Then you can reset it as needed.

You can save the workspace in the upper-right corner too.

Not really sure how it happens but it does in both Illustrator and inDesign

Most of Adobe's programs allow one to set up and save a workspace.

Hello @James Prout,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you try saving your workspace after you have affixed the toolbars in your desired location to see if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

If you are on a Mac, make sure you have the Application Frame turned on so you can dock the panels. Otherwise, they are floating free and are easier to move.

Windows always has it on.
