Hope anybody can help..... Working with InDesign.

I'm working on laying out the interior of a 230 page book.  I have two issues:

1. The text frames just disappear for no apparent reason.  How do I get it back?

2. How do I install missing fonts?

Thank you 🙂

My solutions:

1. Open file in question, go to properties - in the "guides" section is a block that needs to be checked.  I believe when I "locked" all my pages, the "Margins" got unchecked.....

2. The missing fonts: "first find" and then "replaced" . I was relactant to do it at first because it will mess with the layout; but when I "first find" I notice that I wouldn't make a difference.

What are your versions of InDesign and the operating system?

Also could you post screenshots that illustrate the issue with disappearing frames?

Are your missing fonts Adobe fonts or fonts from other sources?

When you say "book", are you referring to an InDesign book (.indb) or just a regular 230-page InDesign file (.indd)?

Hi Leo,

Here's my specs:

Application Version: Indesign: 20.0.1x64
Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version            24H2

Installed on     ‎10/‎17/‎2024

OS build           26100.2894

Experience      Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0

I'm working on an InDesign file (indd) - (on recommendation of an Adobe agent)  Is that the right thing to do?

I "think" im using Adobe fonts (how can one tell?) Screen shot included.

As for the text frames, I' attaching the an older and newer copies of the same document. (I always work with two - incase of  a disaster)......

Can you help, Please?

Hi @marynacoetzee

I'm glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issues! Could you kindly share the resolution for both the missing text frame (Show Guides) and the missing font issue? It would be really helpful for others in the community who may face similar challenges.

I appreciate you helping to make the community even stronger!
