Just like Adobe Illustrator, the most fluid, flexible and super fast software. InDesign needs a BIG change in terms of features and ease of use.
Just think of tiny thing 'Smooth Animated Zoom' in Ai. and other tools like pathfinder, shap builder, shape tools. InDesign tbh is still felt like a vintage app. outdated.
I'm not sure I would describe Illustrator as "fluid, flexible, and super fast" but I generally agree with your wish for smooth, animated zoom, and more pathfinder features, and an equality of shape tools.
For better or worse, Adobe's page layout software has always had a philosophy of delegating vector things to Illustrator, and delegating pixel things to Photoshop.

It's highly unlikely that all those features will be added to InDesign as @Mike Witherell points out.
If you have individual requests, you should not post them here because InDesign product managers will not see them. Feature requests should be posted on the InDesign User Voice website where other users can vote on them, and they are viewed by product managers:

Then better to uninstall InDesign and try to create page layouts in Ai.
Thanks for letting me decide.
