Thanks for this. I have a new iMac 16gig RAM, everything is running local. I reinstalled InDesign and the lag continues.

Are you running the latest version of Sonoma, macOS 14.4.x?

Yes - the latest of Sonoma, InDesign. Just bought this Mac 3 days ago.

That does not answer the question. Please confirm that Sonoma is fully updated to 14.4.

Also, we need to know what your definition of "major lag" is.

Sonoma 14.4 - THE LATEST VERSION
Major lag - Spinny ball when file opens. Click on took. Spinny ball. Unlock 1 layer - spinny ball, second layer - spinny ball. Anything I do there is constant lag between operations.

Open Activity Monitor from Applications/Utilities folder, select the Memory tab. Try to use InDesign and check if you see anything suspicious in Activity Monitor: memory pressure in yellow/red? unusually high CPU/memory usage by InDesign or another app (you can sort by memory and CPU columns to check)?
