Making simple changes on InDesign

Hi all, may i know what is the most suitable software/package for making simple changes (e.g. amending words) on a InDesign file. Thanks.

It will be InDesign appllication only. The INDD file format is proprietary so you can't open/make changes to it outside the application and even if you are able to reverse engineer the format and make the required changes how are you going to open the file and use the edited file? Now InDesign can also export INDD files in IDML format which is actually a bunch of XML files and can be edited as you like without using the InDesign application, its all about parsing XML's and adding/editing them. I think IDML would be the route you should go.

What exactly are you trying to do? InCopy will allow editing to content but it doesn't come without a learning curve.
