Hi all,
Is there a way to change a x-location value for a number of text frames at once?
Couldn't find sth like that in a change/find options
TIA

This can be done with an Object Style, but unless your boxes all have the same object style applied, you may still have to fid them one by one to apply the style (unless the change will be applied to every text box in your document). A bit more detail about your document could get you more focused answers.

thanks. Assigning object style to frames manually is more or less the same like changing x-loc 🙂
Doc has a book format with 1 frame per page and I want to shift all of them horizontally after margin value changed.

Hi Mike,
please add some details. Also screenshots of your situation.
Could be that your issue can be resolved by using a script that is already installed with your version of InDesign. Or perhaps by using the Page Tool when you do not work with a facing-pages document; one could move pages without moving the contents on the pages.

Hi Uwe,
Simple story. Book layout. Facing pages. 1 frame per page. I want to change x-location from 166mm to 161 for left page, so shifting frame let by 5 mm and same for corresponding right page frame.
Script can be an option but I don't know any

Hi Mike,
if the only element you want to move on the pages is your text frame, all other elements are on applied parent pages, do this with the AdjustPageItems.jsx script you find in your Scripts panel under Application > JavaScript.
You may experiment a bit, because I think, that when the UI of the script says "even pages" it means "odd pages" in a facing pages document.
Important:
[1] Save your document before you run the script so that you can revert in one go if the result is not what you like.
[2] The script will change your ruler values to Points.
[3] You can insert a value like -5mm, the script's input field will calculate that value to Points.

If your frames are aligned to your margin guides, then Layout Adjustment could work for this. With Layout Adjustment enabled, changing the margins should move the text frames accordingly.
