Merge data being cached???

New Here ,

Good Morning,

We have one customer who has many different manual covers all with unique merged codes.

When we have merged the codes we then delete the CSV file so that it cannot be merged again.

However, when I load the file again after deleting the CSV - Indesign tells me that the data file is missing but I can still click merge and the data that is missing is still in the document?

Is this somehow being cached in the document?

Is there any way to stop this as it leaves the process open to people merging the same codes twice.

Thanks in advance

Edd

Ok, Thanks Grant.

Is this effectively a bug?

A missing image is missing but data is embedded.

not a bug, inDesign will "decode" the csv data and must store that to propagate the document.
