I have created a series of files from python that creates .csv files for InDesign.  The files are written in (utf-16) format.  As shown in the first picture when I select a csv data source the special characters show up.  I then load them as unicode dellimited by commas on my pc (see 2. Choose Data Source Input Options).  I populate them into a form, which shows the fields I am trying to work with (Comments and Counter) - (see 3. Populate Data Merge Fields)

When I look at the output (6. Result Missing UTF-16 Emoji characters) any specail characters do not display while standard text (ie the counters, which are numbers) and text displays.

I am using InDesign 17.2.1 x64 on a Dell workstation with 256 GB of RAM running Windows 10 x64

Would appreciate any insights to make this work.

Hi EdRaponi,

the applied fonst style must support the glyphs for the emojis.

I guess this is not the case with the used font in the layout.
