Opening a project that was worked on by someone else at my company. It said I was missing fonts (Oswald Regular and Oswald Medium) I found the fonts and installed them on my computer. They are also Adobe fonts so i activated both. I dropped both fonts into the Document fonts folder. Oswald Medium linked up no problem but Regular will not link. I even downloaded another version of it and still will not link. Restarted the program. I dont know whats up. Anybody know how to trouble shoot?

If you activated the Oswald font family, why did you also copy the Oswald fonts into a Document fonts subfolder? Why do both?

It would help to diagnose the problem if you choose File > Find/Replace Font to open the dialog for looking at your fonts.

Select the font you're having problems with (original font), the click the More Info button. It will show a lot about the version of the font you're trying to work with like this:

When you say Adobe fonts - do you mean purchased Adobe font formats or fonts from fonts.adobe.com?

Having fonts installed or activated in more than one location at the same time is fraught with possible conflicts. Eliminate all but one option, then look at clearing font caches. Font caches are built based on what's installed and will easily become confused if you are doing a lot of switching.
