What happens when you try to open the InDesign document? Does it happen with any other InDesign document? If it happens with more than one document, I would try restoring your InDesign preferences and caches:

If only that file, try saving the file as an IDML (there may be corruption and this may help): File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or later [IDML]. Then try opening the IDML file.
