Multiple grid sizes in alternate layout

I am making a file with multiple sizes so I am using an alternate layout for each size. The issue I’m having is that each size also has a different baseline grid measurement.

I can override it with the text frame options which I thought solved my problem but now, when I make a new page, even if I auto flow the text, the text frame options don’t keep. Is there a way I can set it to keep those text frame options for everything in that story? Or would I have to individually change each text frame?

You can change the default settings of the text box to reflect the changes you've made. Any new text box should follow those defaults.

can i set that per alternate layout though and not the whole file?

Doesn't seem like it. Even creating an object style doesn't create new text boxes with the same object style. But if you create the object style, at least it's a quicker apply of the specs.
