I think it would be helpful to add to the Conditional Text pallet, the ability to make a group of conditional text designations, of which, only one can be visible at a time. These conditions can be contained in a folder. Maybe call it an Exclusive Grouping. In this group/folder the conditions will toggle like radio buttons, in that, if you make one condition in the group visible, any other visible condition in the group clicks off.
Useage example: I have a flyer with three variations. One for laymen, one for doctors and one for schools. In the flyer, one paragraph will change for each audience, with more technical jargon for the doctors and plain language for the laymen and educational benefits for the schools. In the Conditional Text pallet, I create a grouping/folder containing three condition types named Doctors, Laymen and Schools and assign the text of the three paragraphs to the appropriate condition. In this group, only ONE condition can be true at a time making it easy for someone other than the original designer to know which conditions are exclusive to other conditions. With this function, in this brochure, you will never have more than one of those targeted paragraphs visible at a time for a particular audience. This would be especially handy where more than one designer is involved.
I find the ability to have two conditions both be visible when they should never be visible together to be a point of confusion and mistakes even when I'm the only designer.

Hmm! …
Does not that exist in InDesign since years (maybe 20?) as it calls "conditions group"?
Here, one condition per group! …

The Jedi is right, Luminar.
A feature similar like that already exists. Read into:

But you can enable it with a menu command of the Conditional Text panel's options.

Hm. Version 2.0.10 is from 6 December 2019 and supports InDesign 2020 and macOS Catalina.
No idea if there is a version for InDesign 2021 and InDesign 2022.
But you could simply ask.
